Casey Miller – Giving us the Best of Fitness

Fitness is all about helping people achieve their goals. It’s about enabling people to be the best they can be. Everyone wants to better themselves and we all know it’s not easy. It’s also dofficult for people with unusual schedules to find the time to keep fit.

Enter, Casey Miller from Best of Fitness in Colarado Springs, CO, USA. Best of fitness is built on multiple platforms based around fitness that allows people to have access to “great” information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In addition to the training course, Casery provides a continuous stream of well laid out and easy to read fitness tips via the Best Fitness Blog that includes programs and techniques for just about anyone.

We caught up with Casey to get some insight in to his vision and online business goals.

What is your Background in Fitness?

I have been in the fitness industry for 10 years as a personal trainer, college instructor and continuing education provider.  When I first started out, I always wanted a fitness website that taught people how to exercise the “right” way and I did that.

I created a website, spent 1000’s of hours making content and it didn’t perform like most other websites.  Then a year ago, I got laid off from my teaching job and decided it was time for a change and make it in the internet world and that’s what I’m doing today.

Tell us something about how You began your journey and why?

After being laid off, I knew I had to do something for me and my future.  About 7 months ago, I created thebestoffitness.com, which provides fitness related articles and recently a fitness Q&A podcast.

I then created onlinefitnessthatworks.com for my online personal trainer course and last, is my new website, fitnessmarketingthatworks.com, which focuses on my journey as an online personal trainer.

What is the focus of the business?

My focus of all three of my fitness websites is to help people achieve their goals.  Everyone wants to better themselves and we all know it’s not easy, so I wanted to create multiple platforms based around fitness that allows people to have access to useful information so they can easily change their lives.

casey-miller-300x300What are some of the biggest hurdles to starting up a Fitness Website?

The fitness industry is flooded with information good and bad, plus it’s very competitive which makes it hard to get noticed right away.

Fortunately, I have been moving up the rankings lately by creating information that people can use right away and it seems people are noticing.

What strategies have generated the most interest in your start-up, what’s working so far?

The best strategies that I have used so far are Haro (helpareporter.com) and myblogu.com.  I have noticed using Haro, you won’t receive as many backlinks from contributing to articles but the ones you receive are from high authority sites.

For example, I was able to receive a backlink from Shape.com.  Myblogu.com, is great because it’s more of a community and you can get awesome backlinks plus build relationships at the same time.

What sets you apart from others?

Being in the fitness industry you won’t find anything real unique but I got the idea from Gary Vaynerchuk to document everything and be yourself.  This is why I created fitnessmarketingthatworks.com.

This website is mainly for documenting my life as an online personal trainer.  I believe more trainers in the future will be going this route and I would like to provide them “real” information on the subject, not just learning how to make $100,000 from Facebook ads.

I also started my podcast on thebestoffitness.com that just answers fitness questions.  I know there are already some people who do this but it’s a great way to get people to know me and not just what I write on paper.

I think at the end of the day, people who build the most relationships will win and continue to build a great business and I want to be in the game for the long haul.

Any up-and-coming Events or New Directions You can tell us About?

As of today, I am just going to focus on creating podcast and blog posts on my journey as an online personal trainer and answering fitness questions.

I will try this approach for 6 plus months and see how people respond and if it works great, I will continue with this strategy.  If not, I will find a different direction that allows me to be myself.
